WORDS by MOLLY B. SIMMONS
The modern dating scene is not for the faint of heart. We live in the age of swiping, split-second decisions, and a seemingly bottomless dating pool. We are encouraged by multiple dating apps to reduce our personalities to catchy one-liners and judge others based on small bios and a few snapshots of their lives. We swipe through on an endless stream of faces and set up date after date, sometimes just in search of a good time but secretly longing to find meaningful connections that could turn into long-term partnerships. Forming and maintaining romantic relationships can be extremely tiresome work, and though they have the potential to be some of the most rewarding relationships in our lives, the work of finding someone can greatly eclipse the eventual hard work of the relationship itself.
