The Goal

INTERVIEW with LUCY HART

PHOTOGRAPHY by PENELOPE DARIO

STYLING by DWAINE HILL

THERE'S A NEW DOMMY IN TOWN.

Shortly after transitioning, Lucy Hart traded in casinos in the desert for bodegas and skyscrapers to start a new life in NYC. She caught us up on how she became the woman she is today and her baptism by fire in this east coast metropolis. From 80s oil tycoons to the future of horror movie villains, Ms. Hart's reflection on life, loss, and tenacity against all odds is undeniably inspiring.

So Lucy, what have you been up to these days?

LUCY HART

Oh, fighting banks. I'm in hell, but I'll get through it. Wells Fargo is gonna shut down my business checking account because I’m a sex worker, which happens. This has never happened to me, but has happened to many of my friends. They took all the money and they mailed it to Nevada and New York, and I’ve been trying to get my 30 grand back for about two weeks. All I do is hang out in Wells Fargo branches and talk on the phone with Wells Fargo support people, and they keep assuring me it’s not because I’m trans, they promise they never discriminate. And I didn’t think it was, I thought it was because I'm a hooker but now I think it's weird that they’re bringing that up.
