From Nude Shoot to Soulmates: Ana & Mia’s Art of Intimacy

AROUND THE GLOBE with  MIA VALENTINE and ANA MARIA HERNANDEZ

SHOT by ANA MARIA HERNANDEZ

Some friendships begin in bars. Others begin in DMs.

When photographer Ana Maria Hernandez first messaged Mia—a globe-trotting free spirit with an intuitive ease in front of the camera—the connection was instant.

What began as a single nude shoot quickly evolved into something deeper: a creative partnership shaped by mutual trust, artistic risk, and a shared obsession with nature, travel, and the erotic image.

Over the past three years, Ana and Mia have documented their friendship across continents, capturing an intimate body of work that explores the tension between the female form and the world at large. From the sun-soaked beaches of Italy to the lush stillness of Thailand, each photo is a testament to the kind of closeness that can't be faked—and the kind of freedom that only comes from being truly seen.

Their archive, much of it previously unpublished, offers more than just visual beauty. It’s a portrait of process, of partnership, and of the fearless art that blooms when muse and maker move as one.

What was your first thought when you met each other?

ANA

I always thought Mia was so cool, I don’t think I ever knew she would become someone so special to me.

MIA

I was excited to shoot with a female photographer since I hadn’t worked with a lot of girls before. I was a little nervous, but she was really sweet and easy to work with. Our photos looked super cute too, so I knew we would keep working together.

If your friendship was a color, what would it be?
